Reopening of Gooseberry Green 11th January 2021

Dear parent/carers,

Many thanks to everybody that has replied to the email we sent out on Friday.

Unfortunately we still have quite a few people who have not replied. This is making it difficult for us to be able to put the relevant staff ratios in place. We have quite low numbers of children that would like to return on the 4th January and it is with this in mind that we have decided to delay opening until he 11th January 2021.

Please accept my apologies for the late decision but we have been put in a very stressful situation with regard to Government information.

I am very aware that this new strain of Covid is much more infectious and having seen how it has affected our staff I want to be 100% sure that we have everything in place to keep your children, families and my staff safe.

This decision hasn’t been taken lightly and I would feel happier having this week to ensure that risk assessments and staff training are firmly in place. With the Christmas holidays and staff illness this has been difficult to complete. You trust us to look after your precious children and keep them safe and I want to feel that we have everything firmly in place to be able to do that.

Please accept my apologies again and be reassured that your next invoice will reflect the sessions your child has missed, the two weeks leading up to Christmas and next week. These sessions will be put in credit on your account and your next invoice will reflect that.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us by e mail if possible.

Lastly, please take care and stay safe.

Many thanks for your continued understanding and support.

Liz and the team at Gooseberry Green.

Please see below email sent to parents 1st January 2021...

Dear parent/carers,

Firstly I would like to wish you all a  very Happy New Year hoping that 2021 will be kinder to us all. I would like to thank you all for your understanding leading up to Christmas with the sudden closure of Gooseberry Green. Unfortunately we had 5 members of staff go down with Covid and government regulations state that the setting has to close immediately to protect our children and families. I hope this didn’t cause you too much inconvenience at a very hectic time of year. I’m pleased to say that we have all recovered from a very nasty virus and would like to thank all Gooseberry Green staff for their continued support. I’m hoping that everybody managed to say well over the Christmas period.

Following the Government announcement on Wednesday it wasn’t clear what is expected of Early Years, I have been waiting for further announcements as unfortunately Early Years always seem to be forgotten and our families are left until the last minute to know what is expected of us. We have been notified that we will be expected to open for all children from Monday the 4th January 2021. This will be dependent on further Government guidelines and also adequate staffing levels but please be assured that we are doing everything we can to reopen as normal.

In the meantime could we please ask for responses to the following questions so that in the event that we can only partially reopen we have up to date information at hand.

a.Are you a 2 keyworker family?

b.Are you a 1 keyworker family?

If you have answered yes to either questions can you confirm your occupations please.

If you have made the decision to keep your child at home until the schools reopen could you please let us know so that we can maintain the correct staffing ratios. If you could let me know by Sunday 3rd January at the latest I would be very grateful.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us by e mail if possible.

Lastly, please take care and stay safe.

Here’s to a healthy and happy 2021.

Many thanks for your continued understanding and support.

Liz and the team at Gooseberry Green.
